For the 16th year, the Audio Publishers Association honored the best audio books of the year with Audies. The 2011 Audies, the “Oscars of spoken word entertainment” were presented at a gala celebration in New York City May 24, 2011. Top honors went to Keith Richards’ Life and Walter Dean Myers’ Here in Harlem.
The audiobook industry is alive, well and growing with more than 500 titles being published each month. Audiobooks are performed by well-known actors (Johnny Depp and Gary Oldman for example who performed in the audio book Life) as well as professional voice artists.
