In the life of Mma Ramotswe—a woman duly proud of her fine traditional build—there is rarely a dull moment, and in her newest round of adventures, challenges and intrigues, the same certainly holds true. But one thing above all else is keeping her occupied—her estimable husband, Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni. He has been hinting for some time now that he intends to do something special for their adopted daughter, Motholeli, and it seems that the time for this good deed has come. Of course, good deed or not, his plan is bound to hit some snags. And that’s when he will undoubtedly consider himself doubly—perhaps even triply—lucky to be married to the ever-resourceful, ever-understanding Precious Ramotswe. About the Author: Alexander McCall Smith has written more than 50 books covering a wide range of topics and directed at many different audiences. His works include Forensic Aspects of Sleep and The Criminal Law of Botswana, children’s book The Perfect Hamburger, and a collection of stories called Portuguese Irregular Verbs. A professor of medical law at Edinburgh University, he was born in what is now Zimbabwe and taught law at the University of Botswana. About the Performer: Ms. Lecat’s career began in her native South Africa, where she performed with the country’s national theatres and several commercial companies and did extensive radio and voice-over work both commercially and for the SABC. She moved to Spain, where she continued her voice-over work in three languages, dubbing films for Vox de España. Later, in England and the United States, she resumed her theatre career while continuing to do wide-ranging voice-overs. Ms. Lecat is also a published playwright (under the name Ross). Her most recent work starred the veteran actress Julie Harris. |
