About the Author: Stuart Woods was born on January 9, 1938 in Manchester, Georgia. He graduated from the University of Georgia.

Woods worked in the advertising business and eventually wrote two non-fiction books before being given an advance to write a novel he had been pondering for nearly a decade. Chiefs (1981) won an Edgar Award and was made into a TV miniseries starring Charlton Heston. Woods has published a number of books since.
