compact disc audio book UPDATE January 26, 2006 - On the Oprah Winfrey show today, Oprah confronted James Frey about the fact or fiction in his book A Million Little Pieces asking "Why would you lie? Why do you have to lie about the time you spent in jail? Why did you do that?" Frey admitted that he lied in his book about some of his experiences. Oprah appeared to be deeply regretful of her support of the book and its author. Winfrey said to her audience and the world "I left the impression [when I called in to the Larry King Live show January 11] that the truth does not matter, and I am deeply sorry about that. But that is not what I believe. And to everyone who has challenged me on this issue of truth, you are absolutely right."

January 11, 2006 - Controversy now challenges whether this audiobook is nonfiction, as described by its author (James Frey) or fiction. James Frey stands by the "essential truth" of his memoir while admitting that a very small portion may have been embellished. Oprah Winfrey continues to recommend the book in spite of these revelations and said in a call-in to the Larry King Live show "If you're an addict whose life has been moved by this story and you feel that what James went through was able to -- to help you hold on a little bit longer, and you connected to that, that is real. That is real. And it's -- it's irrelevant discussing, you know, what -- what happened or did not happen to the police."

It is unclear whether any part of My Friend Leonard is embellished, however because of the revelations about A Million Little Pieces Audiobooks Online has changed My Friend Leonard from a nonfiction to a fiction category.

James has just finished a stint in jail and is anxious to save his love Lilly, who plans suicide in a Chicago rehab clinic. Despite his efforts, James discovers he is too late to rescue Lilly and he begins to contemplate his own demise. Enter Leonard, fellow recovering addict and larger-than-life mobster who becomes James' adoptive father. Whether it's throwing an outrageous Super Bowl party or encouraging James to write, Leonard becomes the support James needs to survive. But when Leonard suddenly disappears, James realizes just how much he misses his generous and loyal friend.
