A blistering near-future thriller that will propel Richard Morgan onto the bestseller lists - a novel that will be enjoyed by any thriller reader.

What do you buy and sell when the global markets reach saturation point? The markets themselves. Thirty years from now the big players in global capitalism have moved on from commodities. The big money is in conflict investment. The corporations keep a careful watch on the wars of liberation and revolution that burn constantly around the world. They gauge who the winners will be and sell them arms, intelligence and power. In return for a slice of the action when the war is won. The reward? A stake in the new nation. It's cynical, brutal and it has nothing to do with democracy and the rule of law. So what else is new? The executives in this lethal game bid for contracts, fight for promotion, secure their lives on the roads. Fighting lethal duels in souped up, heavily armoured cars on the empty motorways of the future. Chris Faulkener has a lethal reputation and a new job at Shorn Associates. Has he got what it takes to make a real killing?

About the Author: Richard Morgan was born in London in 1965 but didn't stick around for the Kings Road sixties experience. A relaxed, rural upbringing in the Fens followed, then a rude wake-up call at the University of Cambridge where study suddenly became something requiring substantial effort. Richard never quite recovered from the shock and recoiled out of academia three years later with a very average degree in political history and very little interest in any career other than writing and /or traveling. Accidentally, he became a teacher of English as a foreign language and despite his best efforts ended up building a fourteen-year career in the profession as teacher, then director of studies, then teacher trainer. During this time, he taught variously in Spain, Turkey, Scotland, and his birthplace, London. His unexpected teaching career came to an equally unexpected end when Hollywood was kind enough to option his first novel, which you now hold in your hands. Richard currently lives in Scotland with his Spanish wife-to-be.

About the Performer: A British actor and passionate audiobook narrator, Simon Vance has earned five Earphone Awards from AudioFile magazine and has been an Audie finalist for three successive years since 2001. He has recorded over 200 audiobooks, including the critically acclaimed Treasure Island, Shackleton's Way, and The Piano Tuner He has performed as an actor in the San Francisco Bay Area and appeared in the TV series Nash Bridges.
