“[McCall Smith’s] series, featuring Scottish American moral philosopher Isabel Dalhousie, is a charmer … and steadily growing in popularity.” —Booklist

New York Times best-selling author Alexander McCall Smith crafts the sixth entertaining novel starring the ever ethical Isabel Dalhousie. When Isabel bumps into Minty Auchterlonie for the first time in years, she is skeptical (again) of Minty’s integrity. But Minty mentions the bank where she works is having internal troubles, and Isabel must determine, once and for all, if Minty can be trusted.

About the Author: Alexander McCall Smith has written more than 50 books covering a wide range of topics and directed at many different audiences. His works include Forensic Aspects of Sleep and The Criminal Law of Botswana, children’s book The Perfect Hamburger, and a collection of stories called Portuguese Irregular Verbs. A professor of medical law at Edinburgh University, he was born in what is now Zimbabwe and taught law at the University of Botswana.

About the Performer: British-born Davina Porter has appeared at the Vineyard Playhouse on Martha’s Vineyard. Now affiliated with The Square One Theater in Stratford, Connecticut, she has appeared on stages in Boston and New York, receiving critical acclaim for roles that range from light comedy like Bedroom Farce to the moving Agnes of God.

She received Audie Awards® for best female narrator in 2006 and best narrator for inspirational literature in 2004.

The Los Angeles Times writes, “Porter’s entire reading … is a performance against which all others must be measured.”
