"Dastor's performance is outstanding. A huge cast of characters of all classes and nationalities comes vibrantly alive as he takes the voice of each. Dastor cannot be surpassed. His eloquent reading transforms into powerful performance literature. With the multitude of voices and the literary distinction of the prose, A Passage to India is a joy in audio." —AudioFile

One of English literature's most important novels, now available on unabridged CD. It is read by Sam Dastor, who also read Kim, and is the perfect reader for this title, brilliant at evoking the Indian scenes, flavor and accents that make this novel so intriguing.

What really happened in the Marabar Caves? This mystery in A Passage to India highlights an even larger question: can an Englishman and an Indian be friends? Arguably Forster's greatest novel, A Passage to India is a troubling portrait of colonialism at its worst. Here the personal becomes the political, and in the breach between Aziz and his English "friends," Forster foreshadows the eventual end of British rule in India.

About the Author: E.M. Forster's (1879-1970) first novels were stories about the changing social conditions at the decline of Victorianism. Forster spent three wartime years in Alexandria doing civilian work and visited India twice. After he returned to England, he wrote A Passage to India (1924).

About the Performer: Sam Dastor was educated at Cambridge University and the Royal Academy for Dramatic Art, and has made many television and theatre appearances. He reads our Cover to Cover unabridged recording of Kim by Rudyard Kipling.
