Audiobooks Online's Privacy Policy
Audiobooks Online has created this privacy statement in order
to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy. The following discloses
our information gathering and dissemination practices.
Audiobooks Online does not purchase or sell contact/visitor/customer
information (names, email and snail mail addresses or telephone numbers)
from or to outside/third parties. We treat any such information that you provide
to us with the utmost confidentiality.
Audiobooks Online does not require you to register to visit or place orders at our
Web store. When you visit our Web store we automatically track certain
information about your visit, but not about you personally. I.E. We do
not know who you are and cannot contact you unless you email us, place
an order or telephone us. Anonymous Information we can track includes visitor's IP addresses, what Web site referred visitors to us, visitor navigation within our Web store, browser information and screen resolutions. This information allows us to generically
analyze trends, track movement within our Web store, gather broad demographic
information and administer the site.
Our site contains hyperlinks to other Web sites. Audiobooks Online
is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web
sites. We recommend you carefully review the privacy practices of any
site you visit.
Our site uses an online order form for customers to purchase audio books.
We collect customer's contact information (email, snail mail addresses
and telephone numbers) and financial information (credit card numbers, expiration dates and CVV security codes). Contact information from our online order form
is used to ship orders and to get in touch with you when necessary about
your order and for occasional communication regarding our Web store and/or
it's products. You may opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the choice/opt-out
section below.
A "cookie" is a small amount of information that a Web site may copy to
your hard disk if your browser is set to allow it. If you initiate an
online order with us by putting an audiobook into your shopping cart, Audiobooks Online's eCommerce software DOES place a "First
Party" cookie on your hard drive to keep track of audio books in
your shopping cart. In addition, should you complete an online order,
our eCommerce software does store a cookie containing your name and address
information so that your browser will remember this information if you
become disconnected from the Internet or if you should come back to our
site for future purchases using the same PC. Other than using cookie
information to keep track of your shopping cart and remembering you when
you return we do not use or share cookie information in any way. If
you choose, you can delete cookie information manually or you can disable
cookies, with your browser.
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse
and alteration of the information under our control. Specifically, we
use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology provided to
us by one of the most trusted names in security certificates.
Old browsers may not recognize a current SSL certificate.
Web browsers can operate in "normal" mode and in "secure" mode. You
can tell which mode your browser is in by looking at the toolbar at the
bottom of the browser window. If you see a broken key, or an open padlock,
you are in normal mode. If the key is whole, or the padlock is closed,
you are in "secure" mode. When you surf the Net in "normal" mode, all
of the information you type into your browser and all the information
the Web site sends to you are visible to eavesdroppers. When your browser
is in "secure" mode it encrypts all the information between itself and
the server. Encrypted information looks like meaningless garbage to eavesdroppers,
so your personal information is secure.
Our online ordering process
collects contact information (email and snail mail addresses, telephone
numbers, and credit card information) without regard to age. We do not screen or otherwise attempt
to determine the age of customers and/or others contacting us.
Audiobooks Online distributes email and snail mail addresses (possibly
collected from children, without prior parental consent) ONLY to AudioFile
Magazine should a subsription order be placed with us.
