About the Author: ROBERT V. REMINI received his B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. from Fordham and Columbia Universities. He is professor emeritus of history and research professor emeritus of humanities at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The Library of Congress appointed him a distinguished visiting scholar of American history in its John W. Kluge Center for Scholars so that he could write this book.
