When novelist Charles Condomine invites a medium into his house in order to learn about the occult for his new book, the last thing he or his second wife dream is that the séance will bring back his first wife, Elvira, who wants Charles all to herself!

Things are further complicated by the fact that only Charles can see her, which results in some hilarious exchanges and misunderstandings.

Elvira’s plots to get him to ‘the other side’ do not go to plan however, and instead of Charles dying in her contrived ‘accident’ his new wife does!

Many consider this to be one of Coward’s best and most unusual farces.

31st January 2002 - Naxos AudioBooks and Oneword Launch New Audiobook Series

Naxos AudioBooks has signed an exclusive deal with Oneword Radio to co-produce an exciting series of plays and dramas.

The series premieres with the dramatization of one of Bernard Shaw’s most popular plays – Pygmalion. Directed by John Tydeman, Professor Higgins is played by Anton Lesser and Eliza by Lucy Whybrow. The cast also includes Geoffrey Palmer in the role of Pickering, David Burke as Doolittle and Hannah Gordon as Mrs. Higgins.

Over the coming months, Naxos AudioBooks and Oneword will be producing a wide range of plays from traditional classics to modern favourites. Forthcoming productions include Port Authority, Hedda Gabler, and Blithe Spirit.
