Written by Edmund Spenser - Audio book performed by John Moffatt - Abridged Fiction with music by Byrd, Dowland & Redford - 3 COMPACT DISCS - 4 hours

Publisher, Naxos audio books (September 1998)

This remarkable poem, dedicated to Queen Elizabeth I, was Spenser's finest achievement: the first epic poem in modern English, The Faerie Queene combines dramatic narratives of chivalrous adventure with exquisite and picturesque episodes of pageantry. At the same time, Spenser is expounding a deeply-felt allegory of the eternal struggle between Truth and Error....

The Faerie Queene is one of the great monuments of English literature, more often quoted than read. These selections offer an accessible and entertaining introduction, and is the only one of its kind on audio book. Superbly read by John Moffatt.
