"Art teachers could use the tapes to introduce the artists, possibly supplemented with visuals of their works. The tape could also be used in part as a teaser for further research or to promote reading of the book." --School Library Journal

"This audio could be a wonderful starting point for introducing young people to art." --Kliatt

"Krull's deliciously gossipy thumbnail biographies make a smashing transition to audio --- every bit as fascinating for adults as for children." --Starred Review, Publishers Weekly

"The biographies touch on highlights, emphasizing off-beat details...designed to capture the imaginations of young listeners." --AudioFile

About the Author: Fired when she was a teenager from her library job for "reading too much," Kathleen Krull went on to grow up to be a highly successful children's book editor, reviewer, and author. Her curiosity about subjects that passionately interest her, like music, people, nightmares, and World War II and other aspects of American history led her to create the Lives of... books, among other significant works in children's literature. Kathleen Krull married her next-door neighbor and they currently live in San Diego.
