About the Performers: Joyce Bean has had careers as a television news producer, writer, actor, and voice talent. She has a B.A. in Telecommunications from Michigan State University, and in addition to narrating books for Brilliance Audio, she enjoys directing books. She and her daughter Leigh live in West Michigan. Named one of the industry’s Golden Voices by AudioFile magazine.

Dick Hill, also selected by AudioFile magazine for their Golden Voices Hall of Fame, has recorded everything from sci-fi fantasy to nonfiction, Michael Connelly’s gritty cop tales to Faulkner’s brilliant prose, and all stops in between. His narration of Jonathon Kozol’s Pulitzer Prize winning Amazing Grace was deemed the industry’s best nonfiction audio book of 1995, and remains one of Dick’s favorites, along with Twain’s Huckleberry Finn. Dick credits his character-driven reading style to a lifetime of observing and enjoying people. He has been, at various times, a U.S. Marine, a delivery truck driver, a repo man, a community college instructor, a co-author of a musical, and an actor/director/choreographer. Currently in addition to his work as a narrator, he is also a writer. As librettist lyricist he had co-written a number of “operas for the school,” and his latest collaboration with composer Jeff English resulted in Boomers, a full-length musical that has already found one professional production, and seems on its way to others. Dick has two grown children, and lives with his talented wife, actress Susie Breck, in Michigan.
