"Nobody sets up a mystery better than Dick Francis." --The San Francisco Chronicle

"Pure Thriller." --The New York Times Book Review

Dick Francis is the author of dozens of bestselling mysteries set at the racetrack, involving jockeys, horses, and the glamorous world of horseracing. The most delightful aspect of his stories is that one need know nothing about horses and racing to enjoy them thoroughly.

In The Danger, one of the top women jockeys in the world has been kidnapped in Bologna and consultant Andrew Douglas is sent to negotiate her release. As more kidnappings follow, the Italian police bungle the case, and the victims' families begin to worry about their loved ones' safety. The plot traces a treacherous track from Italian medieval streets to the lavish grounds of a very modern Washington D.C., racecourse.

About the Author: Dick Francis writes from firsthand experience as a champion jockey, winner of over 350 races in the 1950s. He turned to writing following his retirement from the track, after being injured. He is the author of some 40 books, most of them racetrack mysteries. He has received numerous awards including the British Crime Writers Association's silver dagger, golden dagger, and Cartier diamond dagger for his life's work. The Mystery Writers of America named him Grand Master for his life's work in 1996.

About the Performer: Tony Britton has a long list of stage, screen, and broadcast credits to his name, including a 2 1/2 year stint as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady and in Gigi.
