Strong Poison is the first of a series of four mysteries by Sayers that feature a complex, romantic relationship between Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane. Mystery novelist and sleuth Harriet Vane knows all about poisons, so when her fiancé‚ dies as described in one of her novels, she's the chief suspect. Can smitten Lord Peter Wimsey save her from conviction in the case -- and the hangman's noose -- and win both her heart and her hand in marriage?
Dorothy Leigh Sayers (1893-1957) was born in Oxford, England. She was one of the first women to graduate from Oxford University, in 1915, with class honors in modern languages. She published her first novel (Whose Body? published unabridged by Audio Partners is also available from AudioBooks Online .) in 1923, introducing aristocratic sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey. During the last twenty years of her life, she wrote only scholarly works and spiritual introspection. Despite her scholarship, she is best known as "the Doyenne of the Golden Age of the Mystery."
