About the Author: Charlotte Brontë (1816-1855), born in Yorkshire, was the sister of Emily and Anne. The three sisters, Emily, Charlotte, and Anne, self-published a collection of poems in 1846; Charlotte achieved popular success with Jane Eyre, published the following year. Emily died in 1848, and Anne in 1849. In 1854, Charlotte married Arthur Bell Nichols and she died the following year. Her other books include Shirley (1849), Villette (1853), and The Professor (published posthumously).

About the Performer Maureen O'Brien has twice won the Sony Radio Award for Best Actress. She has had major roles in an array of television, film, and theater productions. She is the reader of Mansfield Park, also published by Audio Partners.
