Publisher, Radio Spirits, Inc. (September 2000)

Peter Absolute is the story of a young orphan boy in upstate New York in the mid-19th century, who runs away from a cruel school headmaster and seeks his fortune on the Erie Canal with a traveling theatrical company. Written for Radio by David B. Howard, it was heard on the NBC Radio Network in 1936. Twelve-year-old Arthur Anderson played Peter. Over sixty years later Arthur edited the scripts into six exciting chapters and directed this recording especially for Radio Spirits. The large cast of radio artists is headed by Dick Beals, the voice of "Speedy Alka-Seltzer,” as Peter.

• Chapter One — Miss Tippin helps Peter escape from Mr. Phipps
• Chapter Two — Peter meets Gerald Wiley; a fight in the tavern
• Chapter Three — Augustus Crabtree introduces Peter to the Erie
• Chapter Four — Peter is “articled” to the villainous Captain Kane
• Chapter Five — Peter rejoins the Crabtrees and becomes an actor
• Chapter Six — Kidnapped by Captain Kane; Peter is rescued
