About the Author: Penelope Lively was born in Cairo, Egypt and now lives in London. She has written many books for children and adults and won several prestigious awards including the Booker Prize, the Whitbread Award, the Arts Council National Book Award, and the Carnegie Medal. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a member of PEN and the Society of Authors. She was awarded the OBE in 1989.
