About the Author: Author Nancy Farmer is well known for writing The Ear, the Eye and the Arm and A Girl Named Disaster, both of which are Newbery Honor Books, as well as three picture books for young children. She grew up on the Arizona-Mexico border and her experiences there helped her create the compelling landscape of National Book Award winner The House of the Scorpion. She lives in Menlo Park, California with her family.

About the Performer: Gerard Doyle was born and raised in England of Irish parentage. His career in theatre has encompassed seasons in Repertory throughout the U.K., international touring with the English Shakespeare Company, as well as appearances in productions in London's West End. He was also a familiar face on British television before relocating to East Hampton, New York in 1999. He launched his career in the United States as part of the company of The Weir on Broadway, as a guest on the television program Law & Order, and in several TV commercial spots.
