Written by Noel Streatfeild - Audio book performed by Elizabeth Sastre - Unabridged Fiction - 4 CASSETTES - 5 hours, 30 minutes

Publisher, Imagination Studio : Random House Audiobooks (January 2005)

Aunt Cora is determined to turn two orphans, perky Hilary and sullen Rachel, into members of her dance troupe. But Rachel wants to keep Hilary from being one of Wintle's Little Wonders—is it selfishness or something else? Misunderstandings and a spoiled cousin come together for a tale full of high drama. Originally published in 1957.

About the Author: Often drawing on the raw material of her experiences as a stage actress, Noel Streatfeild wrote more than 80 books for children and adults. Her first novel, The Whicharts - about the theater - was published in 1931. Though several other novels for adults followed, an editor encouraged a reluctant Streatfeild to write a theater-themed story for children; the result was the highly successful Ballet Shoes, about three young girls training for the stage.

About the Narrator: Elizabeth Sastre was recently nominated for a Barrymore Award for her performance as the title role in Camilla. Her other work includes Sweet Bird of Youth, A Dybbuk, Nine, Carousel, Raindogs, As the World Turns, Law & Order, and numerous other recordings for television.
