About the Author: Wilson Rawls was born in Oklahoma in 1913. Rawls' wife Sophie convinced him to re-write Where the Red Fern Grows after he destroyed his original copy. He went on to write one other book for young readers, The Summer of the Monkeys. Wilson Rawls died in 1984.
