"Tiger...is a believable and likable narrator...[A] well-developed setting and fully-realized characters make this unusually strong coming-of-age story." --Kirkus Reviews

After Granny dies, Tiger Ann Parker wants nothing more than to get out of the rural town of Saitter, Louisiana--far away from her mentally disabled mother, her "slow" father who can't read a phone bill, and the classmates who taunt her. So when Aunt Dorie Kay asks Tiger to live with her in Baton Rouge, Tiger can't wait to go. But before she is able to leave, the sudden revelation of a dark family secret prompts Tiger to make a decision that will ultimately change her life.

Set in the South in the late 1950's, this tender coming-of-age audiobook explores a twelve-yeas old girl's struggle to accept her grandmother's death, her mentally deficient parents, and the changing world around her. It is a story filled with beautiful language, unforgettable characters, and the importance of family and home.

About the Author: Seven generations of Kimberly Willis Holt's family were from central Louisiana, and Saitter is based on the small town of Forest Hill. The daughter of a navy chief, Ms. Holt lived all over the world during her childhood, but Forest Hill became the place she called home. "Forest Hill is the kind of town where neighbors care when you're sick and show up at your door with chicken and dumplings. I wanted Tiger to be from a place like that," says the author. Look for her next audiobook, When Zachary Beaver Came to Town, published by Listening Library. Holt lives in Amarillo, Texas, with her family.

About the Performer: Judith Ivey has earned two Tony Awards for her work in Hurlyburly and Steaming. Her feature film credits include Devil's Advocate, Washington Square; There Goes the Neighborhood; Brighton Beach Memoirs; and soon-to-be released Mystery, Alaska. She has starred on television in series and films including: The Long, Hot Summer and What the Deaf Man Heard for which she received an Emmy nomination.
