List $25.95 Written by Danielle Steele - Performed by Babo Harrison - Unabridged Fiction - 4 CASSETTES - 5 hours, 48 minutes Publisher, Bantam Doubleday Dell (1998) From Booklist April 1, 1998 In her latest offering to her legions of fans, Steel takes a bizarre turn and delves into the futuristic world of clones. While sticking to the typical Steel plot--wealthy, good-looking woman jilted by ne'er-do-well husband meets richer, handsomer man--this time around, she throws a bit of humor and weird sexual fantasy into the mix. After being left by her husband for a younger woman, forty-something housewife Stephanie sets out to change her life. It is when she meets and falls in love with wealthy, handsome Peter Baker during a jaunt to Paris that things really get rolling. Baker is a scientific genius and a dabbler in cloning and bionics, and as it turns out, he has cloned himself. Often out of town, Baker decides to send the clone over to keep Stephanie company while he is gone. Stephanie adjusts pretty rapidly to the idea of Peter's clone, Paul, who looks and talks exactly like Peter but dresses like a high-living 1970s pimp. Paul, as we soon find out, is a sexual tour-de-force, performing erotic stunts and providing unparalleled sexual satisfaction. Eventually, Stephanie finds herself falling in love with him and must decide between the real man and his clone. Steel's fans will enjoy this bit of wackiness.
