About the Author: E.B. White was born in Mount Vernon, NY, and graduated from Cornell University. He received the Newbery Honor in 1953 for Charlotte's Web and was awarded the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award in 1970 for his work. He is also the author of The Trumpet of the Swan, an ALA Notable Children's Book and Stuart Little. Mr. White, who authored over seventeen books of prose and poetry, was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1973.
